The "new" status quo is a relentlessly happy one, which is why I'm not sure I want a sequel where everything goes to hell. But if this new short acts in any-way as a set-up for Frozen 2, with the notion of Anna and Elsa combating a new threat (or merely solving a new problem) together after becoming best buddies again, then we can rest assured that the sequel will not spend its time retelling the same story with characters learning the same lesson yet again.Ĭonsidering that Kung Fu Panda Holiday back in November 2010 (which to be fair was around 25 minutes long) basically established the core thematic arc not just for Kung Fu Panda 2 but for the entire franchise (Po's struggles to balance his responsibilities to his family and his responsibilities as the Dragon Warrior), it is not entirely unreasonable to look for "clues" in this brief short as to where the story might go. The entire short is a welcome acknowledgement that Anna's perils from the last picture didn't just save the kingdom but rekindled a long-stalled relationship with her sister. There is a new song, which ends up taking up most of the running time, that makes no effort to top the heartfelt tunes from the first film. It's a really sweet and almost too-short little romp, concerning Elsa's attempts to throw Anna a birthday party while inhibited by a cold, that firmly establishes the new status quo in Elsa and Anna's relationship post- Frozen while reminding us how much we enjoy hanging out with these characters. All of this was achieved so I could present to you, my readers, this review of Frozen Fever. Yes I bought tickets to both shows because I possess Colon Blow-levels of moral fiber (and it's a business expense). So I ventured out to the local multiplex last night to buy a ticket to the 7:00pm screening of Cinderella to watch said animated short just before a 7:30pm screening of Run All Night (which I passed on seeing the other night so I could pull off this two-birds-with-one-stone adventure). As you may have heard, I lucked out and say Cinderella quite early (That's good!) but saw the delightful romantic drama so early that said animated short was not yet complete (That's bad!). Walt Disney' s Cinderella which debuted last night at 7:00pm. As most of you know, Frozen Fever is a short animated featurette that was attached to all theatrical prints of Anyway, I can only hope that this will be the very best review of Frozen Fever to be found online. Considering how many posts we all do dissecting trailers and teasers I suppose this isn't that far off.
